Many natural butterfly habitats have been lost to urban sprawl as a result of construction of homes, roads and businesses. This has led to a decline in butterfly populations, with many species of butterflies being classified as endangered. Planting a butterfly garden is an easy way to attract more butterflies and help increase the number and variety of butterflies in your neighborhood.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, Maria Knapik will show how you can plant a butterfly garden for your own yard. The program will include an activity that children can take home with them to start their own butterfly gardens.
