Now on display in the Museum's Coastal Gallery: The Marsh, a collection of beautiful oil and acrylic paintings of local marshes by Ocean Isle Beach artist Sharon Bowling. The paintings are on display through mid-May.
Come see our upgrade to the Shifting Tides Exhibit! Thanks to a generous donation from the Ocean Isle Property Owners Association, this exhibit has been upgraded to reflect Tubbs Inlet, Shallotte Inlet, and the island of Ocean Isle Beach.FRIDAY

Mar. 18 at 6:00 PM -- Coexisting with Southeast NC Wildlife -- Guest speaker Rick Goza, a NC licensed wildlife damage control agent, talks about the various types of wildlife in our area, what behaviors to expect from them, state laws that protect local wildlife, and easy exclusion techniques to help you coexist peacefully with local critters. A Q&A session follows Rick's presentation.

May 3 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM -- 2014 Wine Fest -- Sample a variety of wines, nibble on tasty treats provided by local restaurants, and bid on interesting live and silent auction items. Proceeds benefit the Museum and Planetarium. Tickets are $50 per person and are on sale now at the Museum, Planetarium, and Victoria's Ragpatch (Ocean Isle location only).

Apr. 4 at 6:00 PM -- Tragedy of the Commons: Our Atmosphere -- Forty-five years ago, Garrett Harden wrote about the Tragedy of the Commons where he explored the economics behind resource depletion. Edward Ovsenik applies Harden's concept to the depletion of Earth's atmosphere. This program includes a viewing of the movie Dynamic Earth.
Apr. 11 at 6:00 PM -- Astronomy History -- From the early Greek, Roman, Chinese, and Mayan astronomers to modern day space telescopes, learn how tools and techniques have changed our perspective about space.
