Copernicus: What Did He Do and Why Did He Do It? [Planetarium]

After 1,200 years of continuous use, the concept of an earth-centered universe was no longer feasible. Explorers undertaking dangerous and lengthy ocean voyages needed more accurate navigational tools and better maps. Copernicus thought he might have a solution to the problem. Come hear guest speaker Dr. Henry Steffens talk about Copernicus and his revolutionary idea.

Pi, a mathematical constant, is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter and is usually represented as 3.14. International Pi Day, celebrated by math enthusiasts all over the world, is March 14. Come have “sum” fun at the Planetarium’s annual celebration on March 9 where you can enjoy math activities and games, temporary math tattoos, and videos about pi.
