Megabites: All About Sharks [Museum]

Learn all about sharks! View the Museum’s collection of shark jaws, all caught in local waters. See life-size replicas of sharks in the Museum’s Ocean Reef Gallery. Dig in the Museum’s fossil pit for shark teeth that you can take home with you. Docents will help you identify what kind of shark the teeth came from.

Learn all about whales — including Herman the Sperm Whale, our special summer exhibit. Herman is a fossilized skeleton of a Sperm Whale that lived during the Miocene period 5 to 25 million years ago.

Odyssey of the Sea Turtle [Museum]

Where: Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach, NC

Members of the Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization will talk about sea turtles, describe the life cycle of the loggerhead sea turtles that nest on Ocean Isle Beach every summer, and answer any questions you may have about sea turtles.
