Three hundred people attended our Wine Fest fundraiser at the Museum of Coastal Carolina on the evening of April 28. A great time was had by all.
The event began at 6:30 PM with guests picking up their programs and etched wine glasses. Guests explored the Museum while tasting 16 different wines provided by the Yadkin Valley Winegrowers Association. Guests could also bid on 39 silent auction items such as gift baskets, artwork, wine, and unique handmade items. Guests munched on yummy "lite bites" provided by Causeway Gourmet, Sharky's, and Sunset Beach Deli. At 8:15, Buddy Norwood of the YVWA spoke about wines in the Hayden O'Neil Learning Center. His talk was followed by a lively auction, hosted by Ernie Perry of Perry's of South Park - Charlotte. Live auction items included a Civil War-era musket, original artwork, and fine wine.
Jerry Rothenberg, interim Executive Director of the Museum and Planetarium, would like to thank everyone who helped make the evening such a success -- staff, volunteers, guests, sponsors, donors -- it couldn't have all come together without you. A special thanks to Jim Myers, chairman of the Wine Fest committee, and to the Yadkin Valley Winegrowers Association for providing the wine.

Stamford University journalism professor Julie Williams will present a special program about the Titanic on Tuesday, July 24, at 7:00 PM at the Museum. Ms. Williams' great uncle, Albert Caldwell, was on board the Titanic along with his wife and 10-month-old son the night it sank 100 years ago.
Ms. Williams heard the story of the family's survival first-hand and has written a book about it. The book, A Rare Titanic Family: The Caldwells' Story of Survival, was published last year and was featured in the April 8, 2012 edition of Parade Magazine. Copies of the book are available in the Museum's gift shop.
Ms. Williams will be available for book signings after her presentation. Don't miss this exciting program!
Free for Museum members. Non-member admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors & students, $4 ages 3-4, free ages 2 and under.
